6-months-old Oscar needs a home

by Lisa
(Gloucestershire)

1st April 2013
6 month old "Oscar" male minature schnauzer salt and pepper. All injections up to date. Lovely character/ chap but I cannot give him the attention he needs and deserves.
My daughter and I are heartbroken at this decision, but I know he needs to be with people/person who can give him the time and attention he deserves.
He was one of four in a litter and loves other dogs and children as he socialised with them previously. He loves being with people and hates being left alone so please only people who will spend time with him. He is housetrained, sleeps all night in his crate.
Please get in touch with your details.

Clare.. That's OK then
by: Michele

That's fine. also you might find that two Schnauzers will be company for each other, but NOT two sisters from the same litter, as they tend to scrap more than males..I have two boys.. Rebel who is 5 this year and Benji who is one on the 18th of this month.. they never fight .. just play-fight and that's ok..
Good Luck in finding your ideal Schnauzer .. be it one or two.. !!

Hi Michelle,

I work from home as a florist so only out when doing deliveries, school runs and errands, and my partner works flexible time aswell so there's never too long a gap between people being at home.

Young family
by: Michele

If you are a young family and with a child
Age 7 .. Do you go to work ? Would he be
left on his own ? Would he be left for severel
hours if you went out where dogs cannot go ?
Schnauzers are a family dog as they do not like being alone ..
They need company and are very intelligent.. Hope you realise this
If you become the owner of Oscar or any other
Rescue. Please think carefully.

rehoming
by: Anonymous

Hi. We have a secure, loving and fuss filled home waiting for a Miniature Schnauzer (please see my comment entitled 'home waiting in Lichfield, Staffordshire'). A good point was raised about offering Oscar a clean break away for him not to get confused upon visits. I'd be more than happy for photos and letters of Oscar's progress, throughout the years, for the sake of your daughter, I'd be honoured as I can imagine how in love with him you both are and how you are wanting the best for him... I hope you will consider me. Oscar would be loved, played with, socialised and taken everywhere with us like a member of our family. No doubt the family he had in the first six months of his life set him strong for his new beginning...
Regards,
Amanda

Best regards,
Amanda

OSCAR.. Back to breeder
by: Michele

Have you contacted your Breeder of Oscar
As I mentioned your dilemma to my breeder
and she said that if your breeder was a genuine
and kind person, she would take Oscar back
and find a new and loving home. She also
said that it is not a good idea to re-home him
In your area, as it would be too upsetting for
him to see you once he goes to his new home
It would not be fair on the new owners as it
would take longer for him to settle seeing
family that once owned him. Sorry to say this
but it would be better for Oscar this way, because
at 6 months he needs to bond with his new
Family.

Emails
by: Sam

Hi Lisa, please check your emails as I've sent you a reply. I know Weston is not quite as local as you would probably like but we're only an hour away and I've suggest it would be nice to keep in touch with photo's and emails so you could see he's doing well. Also, we can meet up if you came to Weston for a day out or I can come to Gloucester for visits so you and your daughter can keep in touch.
Kind regards, Sam.

Loving home offered
by: Sam & Rich

Hi Lisa,
I appreciate the difficult decision you've had to make and how upsetting it is, I had to rehome my Westie many years ago when I worked full time and was really sad. Both my husband and I now work part time on different shifts so would like to offer Oscar a loving home, where he would get lots of love, attention and cuddles. We live on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare and have lots of country walks and have the beaches near us for plenty of exercise. We'd love Oscar to become one of the family and our new friend.
I understand you've got lots of people offering him a home so please take your time in repsonding as I'm sure everyone wants you to feel happy with your choice.

Dear Lisa,
I'm sure I speak for everybody on this forum when I say that as difficult as this must be for you and your daughter at least you can take comfort in the knowledge that wherever Oscar finds his new home he will be much loved and extremely well taken care of. Good luck with your decision.
Simon.

Re. 6 months old oscar
by: Rob and Jane

Hi Lisa,
We have seen your post on Max The Schnauzer, and would like to present ourselves as prospective 'parents' to Oscar.
We posted our own request on the site some time ago, hoping that someone would be looking for a home for either a miniature or standard Schnauzer. We are a couple who have been together for 30 years, and we live in Kent. We don't have children, but we have a spacious home and garden and are surrounded by lots of lovely open countryside, with great walks. It's a very popular area for dog-owners. We both work at home a lot and have finally decided that the time is right to have a dog again.
We know you have already had a lot of interest in re-homing Oscar, but we live in hope.
Feel free to phone us to find out more about us. We'd love to talk with you.
Many thanks,

Rob and Jane.

Oscar
by: Sue

Hello,

If he is just 6 months old you should contact the breeder you bought him from as any reputable breeder should have made you sign to that affect when you bought him that if you couldn't keep him for whatever reason they would take them back.

Poor little Oscar sure its not an easy decision for you but sadly it is happening all too often.

Here's hoping he finds a good home nd not one that will use him for puppy farming purposes.

by: Linda and Max

Hi Lisa,
so sorry to hear you have to find a new home for Oscar, but it sounds like he needs more time than you are sadly able to give him. We are sure you are making the right decision. Schnauzers, as you know, love to be with people.
IMPORTANT: Can you please add a comment to your post, or add a new post with your email address so people can contact you.
Thank you and good luck, Linda and Max
