Barfin' Buddy...

by Kevin Panting
(Springfield IL, USA)

Twice in the last few days, my 7-year old male, Buddy, has been yacking up some mucous type stuff. It doesn't seem to contain any stomach contents. It is just foamy and liquid. He isn't acting sick. He has been eating just fine and has his normal energy level. Could this be a "cold"? He has been extra snarfy through his nose. I am a bit concerned about this. Any advice?

glad you got it sorted
by: Linda and Max

Good advice from Hoyt,
It is not unusual for dogs to be off colour for a day or two, but if it persists, it's always best to have a vet check the dog out before things get worse.
Better safe than sorry. Glad Buddy is on the mend, he'll soon be feeling his old self again.

Buddy to the vet
by: Kevin Panting

Took Buddy to the vet. He indeed did have some sort of intestinal virus bug. He got a shot, some meds, and a better informed human. He was eating and chasing Maddie that afternoon.

He seems depressed...
by: Kevin Panting

He seems depressed now. He has been drinking some but has not expressed any interest in his food. He doesn't act sick, just kind of sad. He has been playing with his water bottles and has been going outside. He hasn't thrown up again. He did seem scared when he was vomiting though. I think a trip to the vet may be in order.

Max does this
by: Linda

Max does this occasionally in a mornnig.
It is probably Buddy's way of clearing his own system, Max does it after eating grass.
Nothing to worry about unless it becomes a regular habit.
