If you bath him too often .. every week.. the oils that protect his skin could be less effective.. as Schnauzers have a double coat, the topcoat is wire-haired and the undercoat is soft.. I don't bathe my Rebel unless he is dirty, which is not often, or he is going to a Companion Dog Show, then I bath him 2 days before... I usually bath my boys once every 8 to 12 weeks.. sometimes more often during the Summer months if the weather gets too warm, as this makes them feel fresher.. As you probably know Schnauzers do NOT moult and the only hair that comes out is what you strip out or comb out...
If you do not groom your schnauzer he will get matted under his arms and between his legs.. then he will be uncomfortable.. I groom Benji, my now 13 week old puppy, every day, but have not bathed him yet as my breeder bathed him before she came with him to my home.. a 3 hour journey for her.
