Bladder problems

My beautiful girl has just turned 12 and have noticed her coat has become very thin. Along with this she seems to have constant bladder problems, dribbling down her back legs and can’t walk 20 feet without her needing a wee or at the very most a dribble.
Is this just old age or should I be concerned that the vet is missing something

Bladder problems
by: Brian

Has she been checked for diabetes and urinary tract infection? My 13-year-old Charlie had similar symptoms back in November last year and he had both. His diabetes is still not under control, he is wearing a glucose sensor so that glucose can be checked 24/7 and the dose varied. There is much improvement but he is not yet totally settled.
Good luck, it is not an easy situation.

bladder

Her thin coat could be just part of old age, a sign of Cushings disease or a lack of nutrients. Perhaps boost her daily feed with a drop of Omega 3 oil, or another supplement good for skin and older dogs.

Re the bladder: If she hasn't an infection then it may be that her bladder muscles don't work as well as they used to, not uncommon in older dogs.
If it's a problem, you can buy doggie pants for her. There are surgical procedures if this is the problem, but at 11 I wouldn't put her through it.
Best of luck to her,
Linda
