frightened of visitors to our house

our schnauzer has always been wary of visitors to our house, but since someone thought it was funny to spook him now he sits there shaking, what should we do?

more socialisation is needed for him to regain confidence.
Take him out with other people, gradually introduce him to new places, people, dogs etc and reward him with treats and kind words.
It will take time and don't overface him ,but he needs more socialisation and outside experiences
