Help with schnauzer hair!

We have 5 mini chocolate schnauzers puppies, 6 weeks old and only two have the longer hair schnauzer look.
Will they eventually grow out the hair or is there any such thing as a short-haired schnauzer?
We also have a parti - white and brown.
Anyone know how rare they really are?

All purebred schnauzers have the same type of hair - a double coat with a short, dense undercoat and wiry coat on top.
There is no such thing as a short haired schnauzer!!
