Itchy 8 y/o mini...

I have tried just about everything (including vet trips) to help Buddy during the summer months. He scratches, sometimes while wimpering and crying, almost constantly. Benadryl helps sometimes. I was wondering if it is OK to use a medicated shampoo on him. It helps me when my head gets itchy. He seems to have real bad "Schnauzer Skin". Any suggestions to help him quit scratching will be appreciated.

We tried everything with Max -go to your vet and ask for APOQUEL. It is non steroid and brilliant (It costs about £1 a day, but well worth it.) Max takes it for 5-6 months a year, no side effects.
It is the new wonder drug for allergies and I am sure it will be good for Buddy.(They couldn't make it fast enough last year and there was a shortage of supply).
