lifting leg peeing on chair

My Schnauzer is 8 years old and suddenly started lifting his leg and peeing if someone hangs a coat on a chair. He has never done that until recently.
How can I stop this nasty habit?

He is obviously marking his territory - who does the coat belong to - one person or different people? you or visitors?
If it's visitors, try offering him a treat when someone comes to the house so he associates it with something positive.
There are also products you can use to discourage the habit.
