Looking to rehome male 9 Year mini with Reactivity (Noise) Bedfordshire 19th Jan 25

Hi all, thank you for reading. We're looking to rehome our 9 year old neutured boy (currently lives with our 10 year old female MS) due to his reactivity which comes out as a lot of noise and barking. He has never shown physical agression to other dogs or people, including our son (who he loves and has been a dream with how well he has welcomed our son into the home).

Since the arrival of our son 3 years ago we are finding our lives and his experiences restricted as we we cannot take the dog with us or find someone we can trust to look after him (or afford it!).

He is a super loving dog who wants to be on your lap whnever he is allowed. Super intelligent and wants to pllease his owners through obedience and doing tricks of his own accord whenever he thinks he may then get a treat or fuss.

He is able to be friends with the right dog but has only ever been left with his doggy sister, though i'm sure if worked on, any speration anxiety could be overcome.

A queiter life with a warm lap and lots of cuddles would be his perfect home.

I have tried through training and behaviourists to alter and reduce his reactivity but as one behaviourist pointed out it may be the bond between myself and him that in someway feeds the anxiety/being scared and therefore the reactivity.

We're loctaed in Bedfordshire if that helps.

Thanks again for reading.

Very sorry you have to rehome him
by: Linda

Hi Russell, what a very difficult decision, he looks lovely.
We don't have Schnauzers to rehome ourselves, we put people who have one to rehome in touch with those offering a new home.
Hopefully somebody in your area will contact you if they can offer your boy a home.
The co-ordinator for Northern Schnauzer Rescue is Pamela Ciceri Pamela.ciceri@btinternet.com. She is brilliant at helping people all over the country rehome their Schnauzers. Send her an email as she has contacts all over the country.
You can also try The Miniature Schnauzer Club Re-Home and Rescue Trust - contact Caroline Wareing on 01242 696 768.
Or Schnauzerfest on Facebook
The Schnauzer Club of Great Britain helps to rehome all three sizes. You can contact them online at https://www.schnauzerclub.co.uk/contact.php
ManyTears Rescue in Wales often has Minis for rehoming as well. www.manytearsrescue.org
