Mini schnauzer waking in the middle of the night

Our 12 year female mini has always slept until at least 6:00 but about a month ago she started waking at 5:30 and at this point is waking up at 2 AM. This morning at 2 she even tried rolling my husband off the bed. We will take her to the dr. this week but I the meantime any thoughts?
