My 1 year old giant schnauzer get get up without yelping?

My 1 year old giant schnauzer has recently started to struggle when he gets up from a laying position and yelps with pain? Also he cries in his when he is just laying down or when he is sleeping? What could be wrong with him?

Hi Kim,
We think you should have him checked out by the vet, he is too young to be yelping when he gets up.
Giants are prone to hip dysplasia, especially if they are over-exercised when young. They also have a genetic presisposition to it, maybe that could be the reason.
If he is crying when laid down, he is in pain, it could well be his joints, but he needs to see an expert who should be able to help him.
