Odie's worried Mommy

Odie is an 8 month old male who all of a sudden started EATING his plush toys. we took most things away leaving bones and a few Kong toys. He started EATING (swallowing and all) His bed and blanket. Is there something lacking in his diet? He wants these things obsessively.

Eating toys

My one yr old mini schnauzer Ree was good with her toys until she was about six months old! She has distroyed every cloth toy as well as her bed! Thank God she was able to pass what she has consumed! Get toys that Odie can get in his mouth but not swallow I have been told they go through a second teething stage to set their permanent teeth! Deer antlers fr a pet store is a good choice! Ree chews everything that her mouth touches so you have to be mindful of where they are. Some are heavy chewers like mine and some will out grow the chewing and eating training is key with any dog.

Hopefully it's just a phase

Hopefully it's just a phase, Odie is at that experimental age and he will hopefully grow out of it. In the meantime, keep a close eye on him so he doesn't eat pr chew anything that will injure him -including poisonous plants.
Try stiffing a Kong toy with peanut butter or other treats to keep him occupied.
I would also buy a couple of teething toys for him - type TEETHING TOYS into Google or Amazon.
