Older gentleman seeks schnauzer companion, Co. Durham, July '23

I am 76 years young and live in Shotley Bridge, County Durham.
I have a fairly spacious paved patio to the side, and a large lawned area adjoining to the rear.
A 6ft high fence ensures it is secure.

I am looking for a medium size dog (Or a puppy) I thought perhaps a miniature or standard schnauzer OR a crossbreed schnauzer.
Please let me know should you be able to locate a suitable dog.

Hi Bryan,
Given your circumstances, an older Miniature Schnauzer might be the better option. Puppies require a great deal of time and effort and Schnauzers can live well into their teens.
Also, a Standard needs a lot of exercise.

We don't have Schnauzers to rehome ourselves, we put people who have one to rehome in touch with those offering a new home. Hopefully somebody in your area will contact you if they are looking for a new home for their Schnauzer,

Post- Covid, dogs have started coming into rescue centres or are being advertised online when owners no longer have the time or money to keep them.

If you do buy online, please check everything very carefully, THERE ARE A LOT OF SCAMS and puppy farms/people breeding for profit with little knowledge of Schnauzers.
I believe the Dogs Trust (they have a website and phone number) have some Minis for adoption right now, so you could give them a ring
