Pick up

I got my Miniature Schnauzer in 2014 he was 8 weeks old, from the moment I brought him home I was the only person he’d let pick him up any body else he’d go crazy like a little shark. Well about a month and a half ago he’s started doing the same thing to me. I’m so heart broken he was my mental health service dog. Does anyone know why he would start doing this to me?

He is very handsome!
How upsetting. He is only 5 so it shouldn't be dementia or memory loss.
I think I would first get him checked out by a vet. Have there been any other behavioural/physical or mental changes. If so, write them down.
Also, if you can, get somebody to film you trying to pick him up on your mobile phone to show to the vet.
If the vet gives him a clean bill of health, then it is behavioural. Something has triggered it. Has there been a change in your household? Either way, it is not acceptable and he needs retraining NOT to do it. Can you afford the help of a dog trainer? Often one , or even 2 , sessions its all it takes.
