Susie, nearly 6-y-o Miniature Schnauzer looking for a new, loving home 02.10.17

by Doreen
(Liverpool, UK)

Susie is a loving, intelligent, salt and pepper miniature schnauzer looking for a new loving home. She is brilliant with both children and adults alike, but can be a bit barky towards other dogs until she gets to know them.
She was my mother's dog and came to live with me 18 months ago in Nottingham when my mother died. I have now moved to Liverpool to be closer to family as I have bad arthritis of the spine, both feet and shoulders and have been allocated a fourth floor flat (with a lift thankfully) that is just not ideal for Susie. She needs far more exercise and mental stimulation than I am able to give her as I cannot take her for long walks. It will break my heart when she goes, but I want to do my best for her so would really be grateful if someone can offer her a loving home for the rest of her life. If you want a loving, intelligent miniature schnauzer as a companion, Susie is the ideal candidate and will offer you all the love and close companionship you could Please email me at doreen-garrett@sky.com if you can help.
Thank you

Susie the Miniature Schnauzer
by: Di and Brian

I thought I would write an update on Susie. We are the lucky couple who adopted Susie from Doreen in 2017. Susie is our life - we love her so much. She is funny, affectionate, intelligent (highly), stubborn, a diva who commands petting from everyone she meets! She rules the roost and we are happy to let her. She is a happy little girl and we adore her. She obviously was very confused when we first brought her home, she missed Doreen but she loved our garden! She now knows we are her mummy and daddy, she runs to us willingly and always likes us to be together. She sulks if we have to leave her to go shopping but soon forgives us! We hate leaving her but there are times when we have to, but we can’t wait to get back home to our baby. Our next door neighbours have fallen for Susie big time, and she treats their home as an extension of her own! Doreen made a very unselfish decision and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts.

I am so pleased she is happy and making friends. I have worried about her. It's great she has made friends with your mini schnauzer. And yes, she is a lovely dog. Have a good Christmas and New Year. Thank you for taking the time to post about her.

Thank you for letting us know, Doreen. A really tough decision, but she sounds like she has a lovely future ahead of her in Kent.

Sorely missed, but happy I hope.
by: Doreen

Just to let everyone who has shown such welcome interest in Susie, she is now living with a wonderful couple in Bexleyheath in Kent and by all accounts is ruling the roost - particularly in the garden. My heart is broken, but I definitely do believe I have done the right thing for Susie although not for myself. I really, really miss her and always will I think. I hope she will forgive me in time as she gets used to her new Mummy and daddy and their home.

Hi Is Susie still looking for a home? How is she with children and another older mini?

We have a 12 year old lovely gentle intelligent Schnauzer who is also fab with the grand children. WE would love a companion for him too

Hopeful for Susie
by: Doreen

Thank you everyone who has shown such a real interest in Susie. I am really hopeful that she will be going to a wonderful new home in Kent on Sunday week. She was offered another home with a family and was going last Saturday, however, that failed to materialise and a lovely couple who were waiting in the wings upon such an outcome are delighted to be coming to fetch her on Sunday week. Having spoken to her new Mummy, I feel confident she will soon have all the space, exercise and mental stimulation she has been missing. I feel she is going to a new loving home. I will make the most of the next two weeks with her. Thank you all x

Susie
by: Pete O'Neill

Hi Doreen. I lost my best friend Harry also a Minature Schnauser this June. It killed me as he was everything to me.
He'd be eleven now. I still get so upset thinking of him but fate came in the form of this forum. I wrote on here of the heartache of losing Harry + asked if anyone had a Schnauzer that needed a forever home. I was so lucky +
will be eternary grateful to two lovely people Sarah + Chris who let me adopt their Schnauzer Charlie. He's my world now + couldn't imagine life without him.
I'm writing this Doreen to reasure you that even though you will be heartbroken you are doing this for all the right reasons + you should take some pride in knowing it's the right thing to do for Susie + I'm sure you will find the perfect home for her on here. Good luck to you both x

Good luck

Good luck Susie! I hope you are able to find someone lovely to take care of Susie. I would love to have her but I don't think that I would be able to give her the time she really needs as I work and it wouldn't be fair to her. She is a beautiful little dog and deserves to be happy in a wonderful new home.

Susie, nearly 6-y-0 Miniature Schnauzer
by: Anonymous

I lost my male Schnauzer aged 12 1/2yrs in July. He was my first dog and very much loved.
I would like to have another one and have decided that a puppy might be a bit too boisterous now I am in my 60's. I live in NW London and there are very pleasant walks nearby.I am fit and able to take on another dog myself, please consider me for Susie.
I would be happy to give you my e-mail address if you think you maybe interested - please reply on this forum.

Beautiful girl
by: sharon

She is absolutely gorgeous and I know this must be so hard for you . A very very brave decision. I have a little boy schnauZer who is my world and he lives with my partner and I in a flat also with a lift! We take Theodore everywhere with us and would love to have another dog for him as he is so playful and misses my boys who live with me every other weekend and twice in the week. I could offer your beautiful girl amazing walks every day.. weekends in Brighton on the beach as I have a flat there too. If you think we could be the right people then please email me at sharongolduk1@gmail.com

Hi Doreen,
Good luck to you and Susie. A heartbreaking decision, but hopefully one of our readers will be able to give her a wonderful new home with all the walks and care Susie needs.
Good luck.
